Vermont City Marathon: 2017 Elite Field Preview

by EJN Comments (0) Articles, Press Release

The 2017 Vermont City Marathon is tomorrow in lovely Burlington, VT. As of publication, it looks like runners will be starting with temps in the low 60’s, climbing into the mid-70’s by noon (with minimal wind). A bit warm, but nothing like last year’s sweatfest. Just looking at the forecast in 2016 made you sweat profusely. But anyway, Tyler Andrews is making a return trip to VT for this year’s race and is looking ready to roll:

“I won the 2014 Vermont City Marathon coming off my first marathon with a PB of 2h21. Now, I’ve been running the marathon for a few years, have cut 6 minutes off my marathon PB (to 2’15’52) and am healthy and fit going into the race. You never know who’s going to show up, but I know that I would kick my 2014 self’s butt.”

While it can be easy to kick one’s own butt, kicking the butts of others is a whole other challenge. Sam Morse just might present that challenge to Tyler this year. In the women’s field, former world mountain running champ (and two-time Trials qualifier) Kasie Enman is looking to be the favorite.
