Shaw Edges Out Fazioli in the Battle of Derry

A 16 mile hilly back road tour of Derry, NH came down to the nitty gritty for Phil Shaw and Sam Fazioli last Sunday morning at the Boston Prep races. The cat and mouse game started around mile 5 when Phil made a surge that strung out the lead pack consisting of Fazioli, eventual 3rd place finisher Mark Rabasco, SISU’s Dan Button, and CMS’s Jason Dunklee. From there it was back and forth for the Millennium Running-sponsored athlete and the defending champ from last year. Phil eventually pulled out the win in the final steps, breaking the tape with a time of 1:31:13, just a mere 6 seconds up on Fazioli’s 1:31:19. We managed to catch Phil post-race for a few words.
